Behind Enemy Lines

We've been roadtripping over the last two days. First, we spent yesterday in Mystic, CT which is not the town where the movie Mystic River took place. Today we are in Boston. We had a great lunch and also went to the aquarium. Attached is one of the few pictures of the whole crew, and Viv's annoyed that I Took it with the the cameraphone, so sound off with comments to make it worth it.

To NY

Here we are taking the train into New York City. It took us about an hour and a half. We traveled light so it wasn't too bad.

A First in Connecticut

So we are in Connecticut. So far, we have had a great time visiting family, and going to the beach. I'm blogging from my phone, and this is the best phone pic so far. It's Marielle's first Nathan's hotdog. Stay tuned for a proper post when we get internet access.

A Pair of Wise Guys

We love gap pajamas. Viv and I think they always have the cutest little PJ's at the gap. They have neat patterns or funny little sayings. We often just admire them on the rack because in addition to being cute, they are often ridiculously priced. So we wait ... and wait for them to go one sale.

When the owl PJ's went on sale we snatched up a small pair and a bigger pair so that we could go all matchy, matchy with the girls.

Marielle says that the owl with the zigzags on his belly is her favorite, and she tells me that Harper's favorite is the owl with the squiggles. That, however, is neither here nor there since you can't really make them out in the photos anyway.

Jailbirds and Cellmates

No bars are gonna hold our fiesty girls for long.

Keeping the Coffee Tradition Alive

Lately we've been trying to have Marielle "help" us in the kitchen. We know that she's now sharing our attention with Harper, so we've been trying to make sure we do some things with her that only bigger girls can do. Plus, the Food Network is always saying that getting your kids involved in the kitchen is a good thing, and Vivian and I believe everything we hear on TV.

So we've been breaking out the step ladder for her to use when there's something she can help with and remain relatively safe. Usually she does dishes with one of us, or she watches us chop stuff. I emphasize the word "watch."

On this particular morning she helped me make my coffee. I did all the pouring; she did all the stirring. Since then, she's always asking if I'm going to make coffee in the mornings.

Not-the-First-Post for Dad/Guy's Weekend

Well Geoff beat me to the first post and now we're several weeks past Dad/Guy's Weekend, but Geoff failed to mention that we played some ill-advised catch with a football out in a field full of giant rocks, so I'm obliged to post about it. Among the photos below, you will find one photo of the football tossing, one photo of the giant rocks, and several more photos not related to either.

Altogether we all had a lot of fun. For the most part, it's a lot of foraging for firewood, beer drinking, joking around, and more foraging for firewood. There's also the quoting of movie lines from The Karate Kid among other things. I can't divulge much more without fear of being kicked out of the inner circle of Dad/Guy's Weekend.

And the real question we should all be asking ourselves is, "What is Luke doing with that hatchet?"
