In fact, she's pushing two and a half. Back in August Harper turned two. The week leading up to her birthday was an absolute whirlwind. We had a lot of preparation to do for Harp's birthday; on top of that, I was heading out of town for a business trip, and we needed to get our patio finished so that we could host the party. The patio had been long overdue, and in typical Marc fashion, I had procrastinated on getting it finished. We worked on it right up through the weekend of Harper's birthday. I had a lot of help on it. My family, friends, and neighbors (who are also friends) all pitched in and I couldn't have done it without them. I owe my Dad a special thanks for his many days of help, and the whole effort deserves its own post.
We baked a Curious George cake for our monkey and rounded out the party activities with a new playhouse for the yard and a ball pit for her guests. The ball pit, which consisted of an inflatable pool and around 300 plastic balls, was a huge hit. We hadn't anticipated that all the kids would want to stand on the lip of the inflatable pool and jump in like wrestlers coming off the top ropes, and, despite one or two little ones landing on each other, we escaped any serious injury.
All in all, it was a great time with great friends and great family!!!
